Our Philosophy

What is special about P´titCREF

P´titCREF recreates a natural language context, where children freely develop in three languages.

A fun yet structured learning

Learning in our centre is achieved in a fun way, through interesting and constantly different activities. Our unique teaching materials, created and developed by our publisher, meet these objectives. The teachers prepare weekly activities based on P'titCref's progressive program.

Building the child´s confidence and fostering his curiosity

A golden rule in our centre: the child should feel at ease, he shouldn´t feel any barriers, complexes or fears. We, in P´titCREF, insist on boosting the child´s self- confidence. This can only be achieved through new discoveries - new games, new methods, new books, new discs -, little by little, the child will develop his own interest: he will want to discover more. The new sounds of the other languages will go hand in hand with new games. Curious by nature, the child will want to know more. He will participate in the games by himself and start playing with these sounds (repeating them will amuse him, that's why it is important that it doesn't feel like an obligation!), he will be proud to answer his teacher with a « j´ai fini », a «спасибо » or a « hello ». Slowly but surely, he will become more confident and will start using proper elements of conversation.

Our teaching method is based on the approach of project-based and success learning. We mainly work using units ( "The child in his environment", "International weeks", "History", etc.) subdivided into themes ("My school", "My house", "The animals of the world", "Era of the dinosaurs", etc.) and by stressing on the discovery of the world and the acquisition of both spoken and written language.

When designing and organising our courses, we ensure that the activities are proportionally split between cognitive activities ( writing, reading, geography, history, mathematics), motor activities ( fine motor skills, group games, physical education) and artistic activities ( visual art, music, body expression) in a way to favour the child´s development.

To help the child associate school and language learning with something positive rather than an obligation, we at P´titCREF, try hard to provide a friendly atmosphere as well as a bright and beautiful environment. We encourage conviviality, helping one another and we nurture responsible behaviour and speaking in the group. The emphasis is given as well to fostering independence, an important asset in the child's development.

At P´titCREF, the child doesn´t feel obliged to learn a new language, and there is no pressure. Children progress at their own rhythm: through discoveries and trials. They learn by playing, by discovering, by imitating and not only by pointlessly repeating after the teacher. The teacher doesn´t force the children, he naturally leads them to use the new highlighted words.

The teacher carefully chooses the activities ( according to the plan) that gently induces the child to speak in front of the others: captioning a drawing, describing a picture, commenting on a painting, telling a story, explaining a game, reciting a poem, singing a song.

 P'titCREF : a truly international environment

P'titCREF welcomes children of all nationalities having any mother tongue.

The fact of gathering children who are speakers of many different languages in a same group becomes an extremely useful asset in order to develop the concept of «linguistic immersion», which is an absolute must for early learners. Children start playing together, hence communicating with each other : this is when learning has its real significance. An unknown language becomes useful for something practical! It becomes something tangible : the second language is not an abstract language any more, the language of adults, but a language for real communication, for games.

It becomes useful for the child to ask for a particular toy ; as well as to keep the toy for himself (the child will learn extremely fast the first notions related to «survival» within a social environment. For example : "That is mine!", "Give me it!", "I don't want to!", etc.); it becomes useful to take part in social games, as well as to invent games, etc.

Among themselves, children are absolutely unaware of linguistic barriers, they are not scared of making mistakes (contrary to adults); they simply speak in another language without giving much thought to it. The linguistic mix, supported by the structured teaching methodology of P'titCREF, provides absolutely positive results.

Qualified native teachers

The choice of native teachers is particularly justified within the framework of our project, since they are capable of transmitting a modern language adapted to children, which is extremely difficult for non-natives. The language is taught in a natural way, dynamically and spontaneously rather than rigidly.

P'titCREF : advantages for mono-lingual as well as multi-lingual children

For children who are already bilingual or trilingual : the main goal is to gently continue with the two (or three) systems established since birth, as well as to create the right school environment for the concerned countries, hence leaving to the parents a larger scope of choice when it comes to the future schooling of their children.

For monolingual children : besides the usual school program in their mother tongue, we provide a learning environment for other languages that is almost natural, helping the children become familiar with other sounds as well as other cultures. Furthermore, this international environment enables them to communicate and share directly with the teacher, or even better with a schoolmate who speaks the other languages.

Programs and methods implemented at P'titCREF follow the official programs of the countries of each and every taught language.
